Peter outside his cabin with his dog

ABOUT

Built by a homeowner, for homeowners.

Hi, I'm Peter. For most of us, our home is our biggest financial asset. Yet we keep everything about it (the paperwork, the reminders, the know-how) in our heads. I was no different.

The garage tells the story. Half-empty paint cans nobody can identify. A maintenance spreadsheet that went stale two years ago. Buried text threads with plumbers, and a faded sticky note on the furnace.

When the mental clutter piles up, routine maintenance gets skipped, and skipped maintenance often turns into an emergency repair bill. Worse: if you had to leave for three weeks, nobody else could step in and run the place.

Previous apps got this wrong. They treated homeowners like data-entry clerks, forcing you to type serial numbers into forms. And when the startup folded, your records vanished with it.

I built Klar around two rules:

  1. Zero typing. Forward a contractor's PDF or snap a photo of a boiler nameplate. Klar reads it, names it, and files it.
  2. Your Drive, not our database. Everything lives in your own Google Drive. If Klar disappears tomorrow, your archive remains 100% intact.

Beyond filing, it's active stewardship. A digital folder is passive; Klar pays attention. Ask it anything about your home in plain English. It tracks warranty windows, catches service intervals coming due, and flags what's missing before it becomes a crisis. It doesn't just store records. It has your back.

Where this is headed: when it's time to sell, you shouldn't have to check "unknown" on disclosure forms while an inspector guesses the age of your mechanicals. You should hand over a complete, digital history. A home that tells its own story gives buyers fewer worries, and faster decisions.

And down the road, if the home of the future is going to take care of itself, it can't run on guesses. It needs clean, ground-truth data to act on. We're building that foundation today.

Klar is German for clear. When everything is in order, Germans say alles klar. That's the entire goal: clarity on your home, without the second job.

Before Klar, I co-founded a software company and sold it to a public company. In June 2026, I left to build Klar full-time, and I run my own home on it every day. Drop me a line directly: peter@getklar.ai.
